Are you looking for things to do this Memorial Day Weekend 2019, and you're staying local?  Well, apart from the usual Motorcycle parades and chili cookoffs, here are some highlights of events happening in The Inland Empire, CA.  In case you're not familiar with what cities are in the I.E., here are just a few:

Corona, Norco, Moreno Valley, Riverside, Hemet, San Jacinto, Murrieta, Temecula, Redlands, Yucaipa, Rancho Cucamonga and Ontario.

Here are details from just a few events going on this 2019 Memorial Day Weekend in Riverside County:

CORONA

Hosted by the Corona Chamber of Commerce, the 5th Annual Memorial Mile March will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 25. The route will start at the Chamber of Commerce building and end at the Historic Civic Center, where the first 200 marchers who register can place a flag on the lawn. HEMET

The 7th Annual Memorial Day 5K, 10K and Kids’ 1K runs will start at Diamond Valley Lake Community Park on Monday, May 27. The event will include free childcare for children ages 5 to 10. Sign-up fees range from $30 to $85. Information: 951-444-1880 or http://www.runmemorialday5k.com/.

HEMET

In an 88-year-old tradition, the annual Memorial Day picnic will be at the Simpson Center at 10 a.m., Monday, May 27. Sandwiches are $5, but guests can bring their own food. Hemet Heritage Foundation president Rob Lindquist will present awards to several residents, and members will discuss the city’s history. Lake Elsinore

The American Legion Post 200 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1508 will host a ceremony at the Elsinore Valley Cemetery on Monday, May 27. The 10 a.m. event will include a performance from the Temecula Valley Winds and a presentation from Elsinore High School’s Air Force Jr. ROTC. MENIFEE

The annual Memorial Day Ceremony will be at Wheatfield Park on Monday, May 27, at 9 a.m. The event will feature a flyover and free breakfast to the first 200 attendees. The Veteran Resource Center will recognize a service member for outstanding achievement. MORENO VALLEY

Mayor Yxstian Gutierrez will lead a Memorial Day ceremony near the Moreno Valley Civic Center Veteran’s Memorial at 9 a.m., Monday, May 27. The event will feature speeches from council members and Colonel Carrie Colas, a student speaker and performances by the Rancho Verde High School Chamber Choir and Blue Eagles Total Force Honor Guard. MURRIETA

A Memorial Day ceremony is set for Town Square Park at 8 a.m. Monday, May 27. Mayor Kelly Seyarto and retired Gunnery Sgt. Amy Alvarez will speak. NORCO

A Memorial Day tribute and continuous salute is set for 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, May 27, at the George A. Ingalls Veterans Memorial Plaza. A ceremony will start at 10 a.m. Afterwards, guests can enjoy Pitchfork Steak Fun-Do until 5 p.m. Proceeds will support the George A. Ingalls Veterans Memorial Executive Committee. NORCO

Participants in the 4th Annual Memorial Day Ruck March will join members of the Veteran Suicide Awareness Project to walk 22 miles while carrying a full bag of gear from American Legion Post 328 to Riverside National Cemetery. The organization will also honor first responders on the march, which will start at 10 p.m. Sunday, May 26, and will end at 9 a.m. Monday, May 27. Registration is free. RIVERSIDE

The General George Stoneman Camp No. 18 of the Inland Empire will present a bugle taps performance and a musket volley while wearing Union uniforms at Evergreen Cemetery at noon, Saturday, May 25. RIVERSIDE

The March Field Air Museum will host a Memorial Day blood drive at its Heritage Hangar from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 25, and Sunday, May 26. Donors will receive a free T-shirt. Children under 17 need a signed parental consent form. Information: 800-879-4484 or LStream.org.

RIVERSIDE

The city, the Arlington Business Partnership and the Arlington Business Improvement District, will host its 17th Annual Chili Cook-Off and Car/Cycle Show on Saturday, May 25, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The free event, which will be on Magnolia Avenue, between Van Buren Boulevard and Jackson Street, will include a beer garden, rock climbing station and petting zoo. RIVERSIDE

West Coast Thunder, the annual Memorial Day motorcycle parade, will move from the Riverside Harley-Davidson dealership, past the Riverside National Cemetery and end at Lake Elsinore’s The Diamond stadium. A pre-parade ceremony at the dealership will start at 6 a.m. and include a $5 pancake breakfast. Country singers Tucker Beathard and Randy Houser will perform at the stadium from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Concert tickets are $50. RIVERSIDE

Riverside National Cemetery will host its annual Memorial Day ceremony at noon on Monday, May 27, which will feature the Riverside Concert Band and a speech from U.S. Rep. Mark Takano, D-Riverside, among others. Afterwards, Native American actor Saginaw Grant, who played Chief Big Bear in the 2013 film, “The Lone Ranger,” will bless the new statue. Volunteers can place a flag on every grave starting at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 25. SAN JACINTO

In honor of fallen soldier Michael Murphy, a Navy lieutenant from New York who was killed in Afghanistan in 2005, San Jacinto CrossFit BodyFit will host its 11th Annual Memorial Day Murph on Monday, May 27, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. According to the website, a Murph is a timed workout that consists of a 1-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats and ends with another 1-mile run. SAN JACINTO

TEMECULA

The first annual Memorial Day Observance, hosted by the Temecula Valley Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4089, will feature speeches from retired Marine Sgt. Major David Barragan and Riverside County Supervisor Chuck Washington. The event will be at the Fallen Heroes Memorial at the Temecula Duck Pond at 11 a.m., Monday, May 27. TEMECULA

WILDOMAR

GRAND TERRACE

The Veteran’s Wall of Freedom will host its annual Memorial Day ceremony to honor deceased veterans who have purchased a plaque on the monument starting at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 27. ONTARIO

The annual Memorial Day ceremony at Bellevue Memorial Park will start at 9:30 a.m. and include a speech by Navy Lt. Commander Martin Jones. The event will also feature a dove release, a riderless horse ceremony and a flyover by the Ontario Helicopter Unit. The Ontario Community Band is set to perform. RANCHO CUCAMONGA

REDLANDS

The American Legion Post 106 will host a Memorial Day ceremony at 10:45 a.m., Monday, May 27, at Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery. The American Legion Auxiliaries 106 and 605 will lay wreaths, which will be followed by a 21-gun salute and a performance of taps. RIALTO

The Rialto Park Cemetery will host its annual Memorial Day Tribute at 10 a.m. Monday, May 27. Federal Veterans Affairs officials will issue ID cards to veterans and present Purple Hearts medals. SAN BERNARDINO

The American Legion Post 14’s annual Memorial Day ceremony will be at Mt. View Mortuary & Cemetery at 11 a.m., Monday, May 27. City Councilman James Mulvihill and Mayor John Valdivia will speak. SAN BERNARDINO

The third annual San Bernardino County Fair Memorial Day Event will start at 5 p.m., Monday, May 27. The observance will recognize Gold Star families and will end with a riding maneuver showcase from the Fort Irwin 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment Horse Detachment. Before and after the event, guests will be able to tour a Los Alamitos Air National Guard Blackhawk helicopter. Tickets are free for service members and their families. UPLAND

The Upland Veteran’s Monument Project will host a remembrance ceremony at the Veteran’s Monument Plaza at 10 a.m., Monday, May 27. In addition to a traditional 21-gun salute, veterans and their families can buy  engraved tiles on the monument. Information: 818-835-6213 or https://www.uvmp.org/.

YUCAIPA

Yucaipa and Calimesa will host a 10 a.m. ceremony at the Desert Lawn Funeral Home. Navy veteran Lisa Roybal, Yucaipa Mayor Bobby Duncan and Calimesa Mayor Pro Tem Linda Molina will speak.
